Immigrating with his family from Kobe Japan at age of 10, Eiichi Edward Inoue is a Vancouver jewelry designer with a diverse cultural experience. A graduate from the Jewelry Design Program at Lasalle College in Vancouver, Ed has been creating chain mail for over 13 years, and selling his work and teaching for over 5 years. You might find Ed, sitting at local coffee shop with his tiny jump rings and tools in hand, chatting to interested passers-by. This social practice contrasts the self-protective nature of chain mail; a dichotomy Ed feels adds substance to his practice. He uses a variety of materials; Sterling Silver, Niobium, Rubber, and Crystal ; which strengthens the distinction of his designs with other jewelry techniques like casting and bead working. Ed is inspired by average people, and how they adorn them selves. His designs are fusion of simplicity and complexity; matching the playful and modern Japanese aesthetic with a classic medieval style. !
